Nokia 8 Has Android 8.1 Oreo beta Upgrade

HMD Global has experienced a fantastic record when it comes to rolling out the latest AndroidOS version to its handset. The organization’s 2017 flagship, Nokia8 was the first by any OEM to get Android 8.0 Oreo under beta, followed by an official rollout. Now, the handset manufacturer is trying to replicate it with Android 8.1 Oreo.

HMD Global’s chief product officer, Juho Sarvikas on January 23 declared those Nokia 8 users listed in the company’s Nokia Beta Labs project have begun receiving Android 8.1 Oreo beta version. He, however, didn’t disclose when it’ll be rolled out to non-beta users.

Updating your device today will allow a lot of new capabilities. And most importantly – the hamburger emoji fix cheese currently on top of the patty! Get it http://nokia.com/phones/betalabs,” he tweeted.

We are yet to determine how HMD tweaks in Android 8.1 Oreo before rolling it out more widely. But, we do know some of the features that will come with the newest OS version, as detailed by Google back in October this past year.

Some of the highlighted features include elastic Light/Dark UI, semi-transparent Quick Preferences, new colour for settings app, auto-dimming of navigation bars and less bugging notification alarms. The OS version has been rolled out for Google Nexus and Pixel tablets.

The OS version will now show Wi-Fi speed score before getting connected to any public Wi-Fi.

The four speed evaluations are:

Slow: If you can use Wi-Fi calling, then you can make telephone calls and send texts.
OK: You can read web pages, utilize social media, and stream songs.
Quick: You can stream most videos.
Very Fast: You can stream quite high-quality videos.
